Our Procurement function is responsible for delivering the best total value for the company through honest, ethical and fair business dealings. This value comes in the form of growing margins, driving innovation, improving quality and assuring supply.
The function’s aspiration is to propel Mondelēz International to become a global snacking powerhouse through winning supplier partnerships and the effective management of all company spend. We believe this will only be achieved through increasing capability and simplifying complexity, and this explains the recent transformation of the function.
Procurement has recently adopted a new operating model, with one winning team supporting 5 regional P&Ls (Categories, Spend Areas, CPRM, Operations, and Strategy & Capability). Our SVP and Chief Procurement Officer, Mark Dady, has been instrumental to this reorganisation and you can read more about him and the changes below.

Mark graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA in Economics and Politics, and held roles at Tesco (Senior Buying Controller) and PepsiCo (Senior VP of Procurement) before joining Mondelēz International as VP of Procurement, then progressing to his current role of SVP and Chief Procurement Officer.
When asked what fascinated him about procurement, Mark answered:
“Because it’s big and impactful! Up to 70% of a company’s revenues can be spent on the materials and services needed to run the business. Good procurement is buying the same stuff as our competitors, but a little cheaper. Great procurement, however, is buying something that’s different, something that consumers crave, and something that the competitors can’t get.”
Mark then went on to highlight procurement’s central position at Mondelēz International:
“Mondelēz International believe in the value of a top procurement team. What we bring to the table is welcomed with open arms and it is integral to the company’s exciting vision.
As we’ve transformed and become a globally connected team here, specialising in five key areas, we’ve been able to give hundreds of people exciting new roles in which they have grown as leaders at accelerated rates.”
Mark recently sat down with Supply Chain World and discussed the ways in which the function is “learning to play a whole new sport and moving at the speed of light to [help the business] become a global snacking powerhouse”.
This article covers how the function has evolved in recent years to acquire deeper specialization and live up to its ambition to be the best in the business. As you would expect, he is in no doubt of the relevance of Procurement to the company: "The challenge wasn't getting a seat at the table, but to jump on the table and dance a jig" Dady told the publication in an interview which became the cover story of its latest edition.
